This Weird iOS 26 Bug Causes Some Android Camera Photos to Have Deep Red Tint in iPhone Photos App

Some users report a strange iPhone bug in the Photos app on iOS 26, which occasionally makes some photos taken by Android phones appear in the app with a heavy red color tint applied to the photo.

all of these were shot on my old phone, an S24. only photos from this trip/convention do this, and even then, it’s not every single one. I am stumped

Oddly enough, the red tint only gets applied when you tap on an image in Photos and zoom in on the image. The preview thumbnails have their full color preserved, so you won’t see it when just scrolling through your Photo library.

There is an easy fix for the problem.

Since the bug appears to make the Photos app think a color filter has been applied, the Photos “Revert” function can come to the rescue. Simply press “Edit” and then press “Revert.” This should remove the filter and return the image to its original appearance.

9to5Mac reports the circumstances that causes the bug to rear its ugly head hasn’t been determined. While the bug doesn’t appear to overly common, several users have reported encountering the issue.

The common thread in this curiosity is that all of the affected photos were taken on Android phones./. This indicates the issue is related to how the Photos app is interpreting embedded color profiles.
