Apple’s CEO Tim Cook last week sat down for an interview with Nikias Molina at New York’s Grand Central Terminal, and during the interview, he commented on the future of the iPhone.
“There’s so much left that we can do with the iPhone,” said Cook. “I think it’s going to continue to be the center of people’s digital lives.”
While you might expect words like that to come out of any CEO’s mouth, it indicates that Apple thinks the nearly 20-year-old device will continue to advance, becoming an even great part of people’s lives.
“Well, I think the iPhone’s not going away and so the iPhone’s going to be around for a very long time. There’s so much left that we can do with the iPhone and I think it’s going to be continue to be the center of people’s digital lives. But the next 50 are going to be defined by people and culture, you know, and what what do people come up with? And you can bet that it’s going to be really cool, really innovative.”
The iPhone continues to be popular. iPhone revenue last quarter was $85.2 billion, which was a new all-time high. Cook said iPhone demand during the quarter was “simply staggering.”
“iPhone’s going to be around for a very long time,” Cook said.
