Apple will unveil its next version of macOS at its upcoming WWDC 2026 event to be held in June. and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the next version of the Mac operating system will feature a slightly redesigned Liquid Glass interface.
“Apple aims to address the shadows and transparency quirks,” he said.
Gurman’s comments come in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter. Gurman says Apple’s revisions for macOS 27 this year will focus on the appearance of various Mac elements with Liquid Glass.
The “slight redesign” will concentrate on improving various readability issues. Complaints have been focused on Liquid Glass’s transparency and shadow effects, so that is likely what Apple will work on.
It is not unusual for Apple to refine features after any significant redesign of an operating system or app. The Cupertino company similarly refined the Mac OS X Aqua interface, and the iOS 7 interface design.
Apple is also said to be working to have tabs in Safari automatically organize themselves, a feature already available in other browsers.
“I’m told that in test versions of iOS 27, the center-top button that users can tap to move between their tab groups has a new option called ‘Organize Tabs,'” Gurman said. “You can choose whether you want the grouping to occur automatically or not.”
Apple will preview macOS 27 during its WWDC 2026 keynote address on Monday, June 8.
Apple will likely make the first developer beta of macOS 27 available immediately following the keynote, and traditionally releases a public beta in July. The software update should be released to the general public in September.
