Not Happy With the iPhone Duo You Bought on Launch Day? Friday Could Be Your Last Chance to Return It

Did you somehow score an iPhone Duo on launch day, but it hasn’t made you smile quite as much as you though it would? Are you considering returning it? Well, you’d better make a decision quickly, because considering where you live, tomorrow could be the last day Apple will let you return it.

The iPhone Duo officially hit store shelves on Friday, October 23. So, under Apple’s standard 14-day return window, the last chance for customers who purchased and received the device on that that day expires on Friday, November 6.

What Is Apple’s Return Policy?

Apple’s U.S. return policy states that customers have 14 calendar days from receiving a product to return it, whether they purchased it online or at an Apple retail store. A similar standard return period applies in the UK and across much of the rest of Europe.

However, if you purchased your iPhone Duo in Canada, that country’s generous return policy gives you one whole day longer to return it, meaning you have until Saturday, November 7 to return it.

Okay, UK and EU customers, pay attention, because if you purchased your iPhone Duo online, you have 14 days from receiving the device to notify Apple that you intend to return it. After you notify them, you have an an additional 14 days to send the device back or arrange to have it picked up.

This also applies to devices ordered online and collected at an Apple Store. Keep in mind though, if you actually purchased your device directly at a physical Apple Store, in other words you visited the store on the off-chance you might score a Duo without a reservation, then you need to return it within the initial 14-day window.

Apple’s return period is always calculated from when you receive the device, not when you place your order. That means if your received your iPhone Duo after after launch day, you have 14 days from THAT day to return it for a refund.

What to Do Before Returning Your iPhone Duo

You’ll need to return the iPhone Duo (or any other item) with the original packaging and all included accessories. Also, Find My for the iPhone Duo must be disabled before returning the device. You can initiate the return through Apple’s online Order Status page or, in the US, at an Apple retail store.

These return policies only apply to products purchased directly from Apple. If you purchased your iPhone Duo through your carrier or a third-party retailer, you’ll need to contact them to find out what their return policy is. Plus, if you set up a new carrier plan when purchasing the iPhone Duo, returning the device may not cancel the service, so contact your carrier about cancellation requirements and any related fees.
