Siri Co-Founder Dag Kittlaus Leaves Apple

Siri co-founder & CEO Dag Kittlaus has left Apple, reports AllThingsD, just twelve days after his virtual assistant technology launched alongside the iPhone 4S. Kittlaus left Apple on “amicable” terms. According to the report, Kittlaus has been planning to leave for a while, citing his desire to take time off, get closer with his family, and come up with new ideas.

Siri was formed from a Department of Defense project developed by R&D institute SRI International, where Kittlaus and his fellow co-founders Adam Cheyer and Tom Gruber worked, spinning off the consumer-branded Siri project and forming their own company. The company was later acquired by Apple in April 2010.
