According to a report from Bernstein Research, the iPhone 4S will not have NFC (Near Field Communications). The technology has been widely anticipated in the next iPhone in order to facilitate mobile payments.

It’s often been said that the next iPhone won’t ship until September, perhaps around the annual iPod event, which is later than the iPhone would normally be released. One UK phone retailer, however, gets more specific, claiming a November 21st launch date.

iPhone Italia has posted images of what appear to be parts that will make up Apple’s next incarnation of the iPhone 5 (or 4S). The pictures, which make little sense if you’re not an engineer, allegedly show speakers and dock cables for the next iPhone.

The iPhone 5 may already be in the hands of developers. A high profile game developer claims to have possession of a prototype ‘iPhone 4S’ that looks cosmetically the same as an iPhone 4 but with an A5 chip on board. The very same chip that gives the iPad 2 its 9X graphics performance.

Forbes reports that while Apple may be able to introduce an iPhone 5 at any time of their choosing, the chips required to produce a well-designed 4G LTE smartphone simply won’t be around until late this year at the earliest, and probably 2012.

After what feels like forever but is actually a *mere* 10 months, we will finally get to see the white iPhone 4s hitting the shelves. The white iPhone 4, or unicorn 4 as I like to sometimes call it, was largely delayed because of some stupid paint issue. Apple should have bit the bullet and not bothered releasing this unicorn into the wild.
