How To: Use iOS 4.3 Home Sharing on Your iDevice

Included with the release of iOS 4.3 is the ability to use iTunes Home Sharing on your iDevice, enabling you to access all of your Mac’s iTunes content on your iDevice as long as you’re connected to the same home network. We’ll tell you how to set it up.

Setting up iTunes home sharing is a simple process. Simply follow the steps below and you’ll be up and running in no time.

1. Setting Up iTunes.

The new iTunes Home Sharing for iOS devices requires you to have the latest version of iTunes (10.2.1) installed on your Mac. So, run Apple Software Update to make sure you’ve got it.

Once you’ve done this, simply go to iTunes preferences and click on the “Sharing” option (From the menu bar, just click on iTunes, then on Preferences).

Now it;s a simple matter of clicking on “Advanced” from the menu bar, and clicking on “Turn On Home Sharing

You’ll now be prompted to enter your Apple ID and Password.

2. Setting Up Your iDevice.

Assuming your iDevice is running iOS 43, simply go into Settings, then select “iPod Settings.”

Now simply enter your Apple ID and Password, and you should be up and running!

3. That’s All! Enjoy!
