Report: iPhone 5 May Be Bigger Update Than Expected

As the world at large eagerly awaits Apple’s upcoming release of the iPhone 5, Sterne Agee analyst Shaw Wu may have some good news! In a note to investors on Tuesday, Wu suggested that the iPhone 5 may be a significantly bigger update than expected.

Despite the boldness of Wu’s claim, all of the analyst’s claims actually align rather nicely with current expectations. Citing sources among Apple’s suppliers, Wu states that the iPhone 5 will feature a larger display, and a design that resembles, but is thinner than the iPhone 4. Further, Wu re-affirms that the iPhone 5 will include Apple’s A5 processor, and agrees that the next-gen iPhone will not include support for 4G LTE.

According to Wu, such a significant boost in the upcoming iPhone’s specs is necessary to keep the iPhone “fresh and competitive” until support for 4G LTE can be implemented. Current expectations suggest a September or October launch for the iPhone 5.
