March Madness App Brings Buzzer Beating, Split Screen Viewing Goodness to Apple TV

Apple TV owners will have a new way to experience March Madness when the 2016 NCAA Men’s basketball championship tips-off on March 15th. The new March Madness Live streaming app will offer an Apple TV-exclusive feature that will allow watching two games side-by-side, so fans won’t miss any of the action.

The NCAA March Madness Live streaming app will be available Thursday on a dozen platforms this year, including Amazon Fire TV and Roku players and TVs. Since it’s developed in partnership with Turner Sports and CBS Sports, you’ll need to go through a registration process to prove you’re already a pay TV subscriber before you can use the app.

Only Apple TV viewers will get the split screen view of the action. Turners Sports demoed the app on Monday, and showed off the Apple TV app’s design that allows fans to see which games are playing live. Users will also be able to watch previously decided contests, video previews, and game recaps.

Viewers can watch two games simultaneously, and toggle the sound between the two contests to keep track of the action. In addition, the March Madness app for iOS will support AirPlay, allowing users to beam the action to compatible speakers or an Apple TV.  The app will also deliver alerts and updates to the Apple Watch.

The NCAA March Madness Live app will debut on all compatible devices this Thursday, March 11, 2016.
