Apple’s next-generation iPad mini will be powered by an A20 Pro chip, according to a MacRumors report. The publication claims one of its tipsters say the evidence is found in a macOS kernel debug kit containing internal Apple codenames, that was accidentally released and quickly pulled back earlier this year.
Although a previous rumor claimed the next iPad mini would us an A19 Pro chip, the same one used in the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max the source told MacRumors that they are confident the codenames actually point towards the device using an unreleased A20 Pro chip.
As always with rumors like this, we won’t know anything for sure until the next-gen iPad Pro is unveiled. It’s possible that while Apple had tested a new mini with an A19 Pro chip, it later decided to use the A20 Pro.
In addition to possibly seeing the A20 Pro chip powering a new iPad mini, it is also expected to power the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The new chip is expected to fabricated using TSMC’s advanced 2nm process.
Other features that have been rumored for the next iPad mini include an OLED display, a redesigned speaker system with vibration technology, and a water-resistant design.
