iOS 27 Users Could be Forced to Wait In Line for New Siri Features

Apple’s WWDC26 keynote address is scheduled for Monday, and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has shared what we can expect to see during the event.

As we’ve told you before, the new and improved Siri in iOS 27 will be a full-blown chatbot that allows users to interact with the virtual assistant, much like Claude or ChatGPT users already can. In addition to being integrated into Apple’s operating systems, the Siri app will be available for the back-and-forth conversations.

Gurman has reiterated his previous claim that chats will sync across devices via iCloud, allowing users to continue conversations across their devices. Those Siri chats will be automatically deleted in 30 days, a year, or never. Users will be able to control that in their settings.

Gurman also says Apple continues to label the long-delayed “more personal” Siri as a “beta” and a “preview,” indicating Apple won’t promote it as finished software when it finally arrive. While waiting two years for a beta will likely be frustrating for some users, it should be noted that the original Siri, which debuted in 2011, carries the “beta” label for two years.

Since Apple will be considering the new Siri as a “beta,” Gurman says Apple way put users on a waitlist for access to certain features once iOS 27 launches in September. Gurman did not offer details as to which features might be waitlisted for users.

WWDC26 will kickoff with Apple’s keynote address on Monday, June 8 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, 1 p.m. Eastern Time. Mactrast will cover all of the action, so stay tuned.
