Earlier this week, we reported about a company that could paint your AirPods black. Now, for those who are looking for a little more color in their life, ColorWare says it can offer you a pair of AirPods in any of 58 colorful shades.
For $289, a $130 premium over the $159 price of the AirPods, ColorWare will paint them in one of 58 different shades, from solids to metallics in every color of the rainbow. A deep glossy black is also an option, giving customers who have been wanting a “Jet Black” set of AirPods a way to get it.
Peacocking AirPod users who really want to show their colors can have each AirPod painted in a different shade. And if they throw in an extra 30 bucks, ColorWare will even paint the AirPods Charging case. Customers can select a matte or gloss finish.
The firm disassembles the earbuds and carefully custom paints each component. ColorWare is known for customizing their customers’ devices and in many cases allow them to send in their own devices and accessories to be painted. However, that isn’t currently an option with the AirPods.
$319 Out the Door for Everything
For the AirPods love who decides to go for the whole shebang – customized wireless earbuds and case – the total tab will hit the $319 point of pain. In addition, ColorWare says it’ll take about six weeks before you can expect to receive your custom earpods.
If you’re still on the fence about all this, ColorWare does offer paint samples, allowing you to “try before you buy” before placing an order. A set of three paint samples runs $15. If you do decide to go for it and later have buyer’s remorse, the company allows returns within the first 30 days, but you’ll pay a 25% restocking fee.
