It’s confirmed, a fourth season of Apple TV+ monster hit “Ted Lasso” is on the way, and Lasso himself, Jason Sudeikis will also be making a return. This time around, Ted will be coaching a women’s team!
“As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,’” said star and executive producer Sudeikis, “in season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
Sudeikis also confirmed the fourth season of “Lasso” on the New Heights podcast, which is hosted by Jason Kelce, former center for the Philadelphia Eagles, and Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.
While Sudeikis would not respond to most the Kelce brothers’ questions about the fourth season, it’s the early stages of production after all, he was clear about what Lasso is up to after the third, and believed to be final, season.
“Ted’s coaching a women’s team, so there, that’s it,” Sudeikis told the Kelce brothers on the podcast. The groundwork for such a storyline was laid in the final episode of the third season, with characters Keeley Jones and Rebecca Welton discussing the founding of a women’s AFC Richmond team.
Emmy Award winner Jack Burditt (“Nobody Wants This,” “Modern Family,” “30 Rock”) joins “Ted Lasso” season four as executive producer under a new overall deal with Apple TV+.
Sudeikis will fill two roles, as the lead actor in front of the cameras and will join Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee and Bill Wrubel as executive producers behind the cameras. Brett Goldstein, who also stars in the show, will continue to serve as writer and executive producer alongside Leanne Bowen.
Following its global debut on Apple TV+, “Ted Lasso” became an almost instant hit, breaking records and quickly earning praise from viewers and critics both. Season one become the most Emmy-nominated comedy series in its first season, and the series landed rare back-to-back Outstanding Comedy Series Emmys its first two seasons.
Rumors of a fourth season began circulating almost as soon as the credits rolled on the final episode of season three. Many members of the Lasso cast expressed hope for at least another season or two or perhaps a spinoff. In June 2024, Nick Mohammed, who played former AFC Richmond kit man Nathan Shelley, teased Lasso fans that a fourth season was in the works. He teased that the “complete” Ted Lasso boxset wasn’t quite complete.
In January, Mohammed again teased a Ted Lasso renewal, with an announcement in a video on X.

Filming for the fourth season is expected to kick off in May or June 2025 in London, meaning we should see the release of a fourth season as soon as very late 2025 or early 2026, Barring unforeseen production issues.
