Sources close to BGR claim that Apple will release iOS 5 in early October. If those sources are correct we could be install iOS 5 within 2 to 3 weeks on our iDevices.

Rather than cashing in on your out of date PS3 and Xbox games, you can now ship your old iPhone at your nearest GameStop. The video game retailer is now in the market for buying old versions of iPhones, iPods, and iPads. iDevice owners that have left over gadgets will receive cash and/or credit in return for pawning their unused or out of date gear.

According to DigiTimes, LG have returned to normality with respect to iPad 2 Display panel shipments. It was reported that “light leak” issues with the iPad 2s display had caused shipments to reduce by approximately 1.5 million units per month.

Facebook today launched version 3.5 of their iPhone app. The update brings groups and added privacy controls to the mobile experience. One of my own personal criticisms of the Facebook iPhone app is the inconsistency between the mobile and web experience. It looks like 3.5 has taken a giant leap in bridging that gap.

Apple will open their first retail store in Hong Kong later this quarter. The new store will be located in the IFC Mall. It is expected that the store may open as early as Sept 24th and provide the 7 million inhabitants of Hong Kong with their Apple fix.

Apple released iOS 5 beta 7 to developers late yesterday evening. The new update is available to download from the download center and also as an OTA (over the air) update within Software Update on iOS devices that are already running iOS 5 beta.

iPhone & iPad Apps for the Financial Times are no longer listed in the App Store. The FT and Apple had previously clashed over in-app subscriptions that would see Apple take a 30% cut of The FT’s sales from subscribers though their iPhone and iPad apps. The two giants were not able to find a middle ground and The FT’s apps are no longer listed in the App Store.
